Terms of Use & Font License
Last updated: October 2026
The service
fontai.top is a free tool that uses an AI image model to create a font from a text description. It is provided as-is, with no guarantee that it will be available, fast, or that results will match your description. Fair-use limits apply per visitor and per day.
License of the fonts you generate
Every generated font is built from open-source base letter shapes released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (OFL), and is given to you under that same license. The license text and notice are embedded in the font file itself. In practice:
- You can use the font for any personal or commercial work — logos, posters, books, videos, merchandise, websites and apps.
- You can embed it in documents, websites, games and apps, modify it, and share it with others.
- You can't sell the font file by itself. If you share the file, keep the license information that comes with it.
Because generated fonts start from existing open-source letter shapes, they may resemble other typefaces, and we can't guarantee that any font is unique. Check that a font suits your purpose before relying on it, for example for a trademark.
Acceptable use
Don't use the generator to create content that is illegal where you live, or for hateful, harassing or sexually explicit purposes. Don't try to overload the service or get around its limits. Descriptions that break these rules may be blocked automatically.
No warranty
The site and the fonts it generates are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Fonts may contain imperfect outlines or spacing. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or its output.
Open-source credits
This tool stands on open-source work:
- Base letter shapes: Work Sans, Archivo Black, Anton, Playfair Display, Arvo, Pacifico, Dancing Script, Caveat, Fredoka, Orbitron, Space Mono, Press Start 2P, Pirata One — all licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Their names are reserved by their authors and are never used for generated fonts.
- Image model: Z-Image-Turbo by Tongyi-MAI (Alibaba), Apache License 2.0.
- Outline tracing and font building: glyphtracy (Apache License 2.0) and fontTools (MIT License).
Changes
These terms may be updated. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Fonts you have already downloaded keep the license they were released under.
